Pre-war Polish synagogue reconstructed in Forest Hill, Canada
For the first time in history, Lavi restored a synagogue that was destroyed by the Nazis in the Holocaust. For 77 years, the Yaslo synagogue in Poland was just a memory, but Lavi undertook its complete rebuilding for the Forest Hill community in Toronto, Canada. Recently this large and exciting project was completed.
For 77 years Poland`s Jaslo synagogue was just a memory. Now it has sprung back to life in its new home in Forest Hills, Toronto, Canada. Lavi`s meticulous reconstruction included the furnishings, seating system and the large Holy Ark. Every item was matched to its historic original to create for the community a sense of home and primarily of Jewish continuity.
